These guys are the ones that fans rarely get to see. They put in long hours and are really dedicated. I really enjoy having them around. We can laugh and joke, but when it comes down to serious stuff they're totally there. They are the perfect combination and compliment each other perfectly. When I crash, or destroy my car, they're the ones I really feel for.
Jeremy:
My nephew. He's helped out in the pits since he was seven or eight. He's worked on my car for the last five or six years and is really dedicated to the car. Jeremy puts in long hours and puts up with my crap. He's an absolute asset. He knows the car inside out.
Murray:
Murray is the newest member of my crew. He started with us at the beginning of the year. I met Murray through a sandblasting job that I was asked to do for him. We got talking about stockcars and he asked if he could crew for me. I was a little nervous about having someone new on the crew because I can be a handful and spit the dummy at times - throwing tools and stuff. But he handles it well. He's an absolute genius. He's always looking at improving things and making things more efficient.
Doug:
My Dad. He's been there since day one. He helped me buy my first stockcar. He used to be the one working all night on the car, but he's getting on a bit now. Dad's key role now is the more detailed aspects, making sure everything is where it should be - tools, spares etc. He's the one who does all the bolt checks on the car and ensuring nothing is overlooked. If he says he's done a job, then I know it's been done.
Carl:
Carl races a standard stock here in Wellington. He gets my old parts and stuff to put on his car. He's got my old aerofoil. He's a great supporter. He generally crews on the car at all the major meetings. He'll work on the car all night if he has to. He can weld, pull the engine out, do the clutch. No job's a hassle for Carl. He's fantastic.
